Then use flooded auto starting batteries. They won't last many races,
but are cheap and can deliver the high amps. As I mentioned before, use
a minimal set for racing, plus a set of regular golf cart batteries to
drive to/from the track. The golf cart batteries are pulled for racing;
run only on the starting batteries.

It should be a lot lighter than this! The Elcars I saw in the showroom
were so light that without batteries, they could pick it up by the front
or rear bumper and wheel it around!
