Face it, it was a liquid oxygen explosion on a grand scale. Liquid oxygen
when mixed with just about anything is explosive. As an example of this, I
once downloaded a set of instructions and a video of some deranged professor
in Texas using liquid oxygen to start a pile of charcoal for a barbeque. The
important thing was have a bricquette already lit so the whole pile would
flame up at once. Otherwise, the oxygen would soak in and each bricquette
would explode with the force of a stick of dynamite. By the way, the
charcoal was copletely gray and ready to cook on in two seconds.
