Re: AVCON inlet port

Edward Kellog was asking about this-
This is from a previous round of discussions-(Russ Levine and Don
McGrath). I saved it as something I might use later:

I have done it, Russ. I cut a hole in the rear fender of the Fiat X1/9
and welded up a couple of little mounting brackets to attach the
Avcon inlet inside the fender, then covered the installation with a
fuel filler door from a junk Audi. The components for the pilot
circuit cost only a couple of dollars, including a little box, all
available from an electronic parts store. In the line between the
Avcon inlet and the onboard charger, I put male and female 14-30
connectors, so I can break the circuit there in case I want to
bypass the Avcon connector and charge directly from a 14-30 or
14-50 outlet, using an appropriate cable.

For information on how to build the pilot circuit, see Tom
Stockebrand's page at www.swcp.com/~stocky/.

There was also a link to someone supplying the converter boxes, but I
cant find that right now.
