Re: Prius comments



Just a comment about the Prius:
The ICE is not always on.  The ICE shuts off whever the car runs at low power.
It is off when the car is at low speed, under 20 mph or so.
It is off when driving downhill or level at medium speed with no acceleration.
It is off when slowing down, (regen is usually on at this point).

If the battery pack were bigger and the computer logic allowed to run on 
electric more, this would be a perfect EV-hybrid.  Certainly more 
palletable than the pusher hybrids discussed here.  I suspect that toyota 
will see they have a winner and will offer future versions with larger 
battery packs.

Other comments are that Solectria may still be the prime EV manufacturer 
who is selling cars.  Perhaps they can help with the EV+ batteries.
