Re: OEM GM S-10 electrics
I had driven over 15,000 trouble free miles in a S-10
prior to the GM recall. We have had vehicles with all
three battery configurations. The early trucks were
shipped with batteries that gave less than desirable
range. Later vehicles and vehicles with the
replacement Panasonic batteries are much prefered!
The only complaint I have ever had with these trucks
has been the tendacy for the windows to fog up when
running the defroster under certain circumstances. The
GM fix was to provide warning stickers on the vehicles.
Some fix! Of course this problem is related to the
design of the heating/cooling heatpump and not the
drive components.
We have used them in a car pool as well as assigned to
individuals. The vehicles have been easy for drivers
who are new to electric vehicles to drive. We even
autocrossed one of the trucks a number of times. Only
problem was the significant torque available seemed to
make the truck better suited for impressive tire smoke
than for competitive times! Spectators love it!
Its a shame all ours are sitting in Atlanta! Our
employees miss them! Particularly now that several of
them are having to drive US Electricar conversions or
worse yet a ICE!
