California Fuel Cell Partners
Hi,
Sometime after July 1, 2000 California Fuel Cell Partnership changed it's
named to California Fuel Cell Partners according to an email msg I received
from Joe Irvin on 17 July 2000.
The website <htt://www.drivingthefuture.org> lists nothing new after the
July 1, 2000 Questions and Answers - California Fuel Cell Partnership. This
mentions that the project will demonstrate fuel cell electric passenger
cars and transit buses. This may include DaimlerChrysler's NeCar4 and
Ford's P2000 Prodigy as well as vehicles from Honda, Nissan and Volkswagen.
This 6 pages is short but informative covering 22 items.
A June 18, 2000 release mentioned the start of construction for a fuel cell
facility in West Sacramento with a groundbreaking ceremony. The facility
will house fuel cell electric vehicles and a hydrogen refueling station.
It will serve as base of operations for demonstrating FC vehicle technology
and alternative fuel infrastructure of the next four years. The 55,000
square foot facility is expect to open in autumn 2000.
Energy partners ARCO, Shell Hydrogen and Texaco along with other partners
will jointly fund a hydrogen fueling facility which may dispense liquid and
compress hydrogen fuel for the vehicles.
Ballard Power Systems, of Vancouver, Canada will occupy space at the
facility for administrative and technical purposes.
The facility will also feature a public gallery with exhibits, models,
literature and tours designed to introduce visitors to FC technology.
During construction, an on-site camera - know as the "pigcam" - will
monitor daily progress and will be available for viewing thru the website
of either the Calif FC Partners or the Pigman Companies.
Can someone in the Sacramento area drive by the construction site in West
Sacramento near the harbor off I-80 and tell us what is going?
This at least tells me where the several Ford FC cars will be sent for
testing as shown in the May 2000 Atlantic Monthly two page inside front
color ad.
Do look up the ad as this is the only place I have seen it, a wonderful
platform only shot with H2 in, pure water out.
I do hope the website is updated soon.
