Re: Toyota Prius 2001 volume, are Peugot and Citroen coming here?
More exactly, the law don't say : "stupid french people you are not
authorized converting an ICE car to electric it's too dangerous for you",
But it's the same result, because we have an administration which
job is giving the licence for the new or modified cars (same thing in US i
think) the problem is they take the decision yes or no without explaining
why ! there is no text rules you can follow to succed the on-road
homologation and it's more true for EV conversion.
In france people who is not garage mechanics are sure it will cost him a
fortune for nothing: they will say no, if you are: you have a chance but
just a little,
and if you are Peugeot there is no problem you can
make a dangerous car it's ok !
I'm just trying to explain than here law are very very very constraining
about all home-made cars, for exemple a friend inventor have made an hybrid
with a fiat "panda" 4x4, this car cost him 200000F and he can't licence it
for road use.
He speak about his car (who works great on 48V), at peugeot, renault, fiat
and others in europe nobody are interested.
industrial lobby......
In resume, there are the possibility
i convert an ICE car for on-road use, i pay 200F /month at a garage
mechanics to have a special licence plate but the time is limited to few
months.
if i want to have my licence i have to made 3 or 4 cars and give them for
crash and other test, and i must pay a lot for this test, and can't be sure
of the decision.
I'm out of law, but in case of control outch !!!i lose car, driving licence
and lot of money !
Lee according to what you say, i'm trying to find an astute to follow the
legal way...
To end with the longer post i made(sorry) you have to know that when you
heard : france have a lot of EV on road :it's companies and administrations,
people don't buy 106 electric or others !
