GFI Breaker Noise

Hi All,

I've been charging my car using an extension cord from a house 220 outlet.
However, I just extended the outlet to my garage. I decided to get a GFI
breaker for the 220 circuit to save my wife from having to visit the
Single's bar if something went wrong. Today I tried out the new breaker
with my NG5 and I'm hearing a funny noise. It's kind of a constant
fluttering/racheting noise. Not quite sharp enough to be called a clicking.
I didn't have any noise when I was using the standard non-GFI breaker. The
NG5 appeared to be working just fine, so I don't think it was interrupting
the circuit. However, I'm wondering if that indicates that it is on the
very edge of tripping. Is it harming the circuit breaker or is it just an
annoying noise as long as it doesn't trip? My charger is the only piece of
equipment plugged into the circuit. Are there any things than can be done
to stop the noise?

Thanks for any ideas,

John Lentz
