It is discouraging.  Another thing going for the use of EVs
in/around Juneau is that (as I recall) the farthest a Juneau
resident can drive in any direction (without boarding a ferry ;)
is about 30mi or less.  They do have some rather steep hills
in town though...

AELP, It's time to take another look at EVs

About a year ago, I was contacted by http://www.aelp.com to have an EV
program. Juno has an abundance of hydro power similar to Canada and
the North West States. The temperatures of Juno are not the bitterly
cold of the main Alaskan mainland.

Thus EVs would be a perfect marriage. Less pollution for a fragile
Ecosystem, lower operating costs, and a use of a natural Renewable
Energy source that is already built.
