RE: Toyota Prius 2001

Seth,

We had the pleasure of having a local dealer bring a Prius to the
recent VEVA meeting for test drives. When asked about the battery
costs, the Toyota rep. said that the cost of the pack (~$5k) has
been halved since the Prius has been in production (I actually think
he may have said it halved over the past year).

Cheers,

Roger.

That reminds me. Does anyone know if the price of NiMH have come down yet?
The only reason I like hybrids is because I view them as a staging ground
for pure ev's. Of course, I trust the auto industry about as far as I can
throw an SUV; so I expect a consumer zinc/air battery before Detroit ever
gets its act together.
