Think about the fact that those panels put out miliwatts (on the order of
200 mils at 12 volts in full sun) while your car requires probably 3kw to go
a mile (25 amps @ 120V at a dead crawl) (?) How long would you need to
charge at 200 mils to get there? ;-)

On a similar note, I have a solar panel that plugs into the cigarette ligher
to assist the battery (trickle, not charge it from dead), will this work in
a case where your pack will go 20 miles and home is 21 miles?

Consumer Reports tested those battery boosters, and found that some of them
are so lousy that they can't
even start an ICE car, let alone recharge an EV.
