Well, I'm no expert yet, but first you need to determine if the output is
isolated from the input. Otherwise the frame of the car would have a high
voltage ground which can be a shocking experience. To determine if it would
work off of DC you'd need a wiring schematic. It the first thing the power
goes in to is a diode you could most likely assume that it will.
