Even more Electric Motorcycle questions?

You know...

I have a '76 Z1 Kawasaki that needs an engine. I was going to build another
engine for it (at some time in the future) but I would consider converting
it to electric. However, I'm looking at a house that is about 15-20 miles
from work. That means that I need a "working range" of about 40 miles.

Now, it's my understanding that there needs to be a range of about 60-80
miles to make the 40 miles easy on the batteries.

Other then adding a sidecar, can any of you think of a way to make this
possible?

I was thinking... IF I cut out the crank and mounded the motor to the 5-sp
tranny, would that help any? That can be done if it's worth the trouble or
a gain in range.

Thanks again.
