Re: Donor vehicle

The search for a decent donor vehicle continues and it is getting quite
frustrating. I'm wondering if this is mostly due to market forces in my
town (Austin, Tx) or just my unusually bad luck.

I've been trying to find a light truck, ideally with engine problems to
lower the cost. Oddly enough I've been told by nearly every auto recycler
in town that any truck that can still roll is towed to Mexico the moment
its price drops below $3000. <Mark>

Well maybe it's a Texas thing but in Michigan you can hardly give 2WD
trucks, if you buy a truck it is a 4WD. We only got $1000 for my wife's
2wd ranger and it ran great. Maybe you should look at having a northern
truck shipped down. When I looked at having a Datsun 240Z shipped coast to
coast it was only $500, so north to south should be less. If course if it
is more than 5 years old you need to watch for rust. As far as a complete
paint job, expect to pay at least $2500 if you want it done right.
