A dune buggy would be cool.  I thought of converting something like the sand hopper http://www.kitcar.com/fiberjet/home.html because the side pods could be replaced/modified with larger ones to hold the batteries like ACPropulsions tZero.  Not much of a foul weather car though.  I remember seeing this in a kit car magazine a long time ago, and that it was a REALLY light weight car.  Don't remember the exact weight though.

I think the buggy could weigh in at about 1200lbs, as a street conversion. 
But the NHRA requirements for this type of vehicle would leave quite a bit 
to be reworked.
