I thought the 97% less pollutants was total comparing driving one vehicle vs
the other, so the mpg comparison is irrelevant (assuming this is correct).  
Also is it your contention that people who buy an EV move closer to work and
quit going to the mall?  How do you explain the assumption that people who
drive EVs suddenly only drive 1/2 as far?

Anyway, back to the first point.  I think the 97% figure means that an EV
only generates 3% of the pollution per year compared to an average ICE.  

So, if this assumption is correct, all of the EV's in California produce
roughly the same pollution as 75 SUVs.  Of course this assumes that the EVs
are powered by dead Dino's.  We can't even pretend the EVs get their power
strictly from Hydro sources, because even if they do that means they have
displaced other Hydro customers who are now burning Dino's.

Personally I don't even buy the 97%, 80-90% maybe.  Somebody dig up some
FACTS and prove me wrong.
