Re: AC Drive Sources?
EVers, few people have asked for the cost of Siemens AC systems,
I believe somewhere in archives it was mentioned,
briefly here is is again:
(Disclaimer: this is not to promote the product, this is in response
to your questions and price requests)
Siemens AC motors:
18 kW rated = $1,995
30 kW rated = $3,295
45 kW rated = $3,995
Siemens 100 kW inverter + 60/90A DC-DC converter + main
contactors + accel. pot + harness = #2,995
Regarding whether AC system will save you money in a long run compare
to DC setup - possibly. Depends on how you drive. The only difference
it makes - it forces you to use high voltage battery pack (At <200 VDC
pack voltage the drive performance will be really poor). So (for
for the same performance) currents are lower and (for fixed range) DOD
of your batteries is also lower. Both are good things for your batteries
guaranteeing that you never exceed 280A limit under hardest
accelerations,
so you *potentialy* can extend battery life comparing to trying to keep
up
with lower voltage DC system drawing hundreds of amps routinely.
However, as all of you know, pushing limits will murder any battery with
any system.
