OK, so I see the point, but I'm a little confuzzled as to why so much 
hardware would be necessary, especially the spline. Just for 
flexibility through the car's movement?

Actually, it was just a joke. I have no need or wish to make this 
thing bullet proof. Redneck proof would be nice, but impossible.

Hmm. How would you make a composite that way? lay the foam on top of 
the Formica? Or is this just good for making a fiberglass shell?

Interesting. What is the strength to weight ratio in comparison to a 
tubular steel cage? and what about high speed impact? At what point 
will the glass splinter and break?

'K, makes sense to me. Kinda what I was shooting for, anyway. So what 
cars have disc based emergency brakes that I could cannibalize?
