6061-T6 is an aluminum alloy, with high strength but poor thermal
conductivity. Yes, it does machine nice, but for a heatsink, you want to
use pure aluminum. The difference in thermal conductivity is dramatic:

pure aluminum		117 BTU/hr-ft-deg.F
6061-T6 aluminum	79 BTU/hr-ft-deg.F
