Re: Sparrow II

When Consumer Reports said the Trooper tipped too easily, Isuzu had
an interesting rebuttal floating about the internet.

I gleaned these basic points from it:

The driver rarely lets go of the steering wheel during emergency
manuevering. The wheel gets turned about 180 degrees from center
until the driver's arms cross, and no more. Isuzu designed that this
typical emergency driving would not tip the vehicle.

Isuzu could have put on tires with less traction, inducing a slide
before tipping -- however, this would have made the vehicle take
longer to stop. Everything is a compromise.

Consumer's Reports test had the line subjectively picked by the
driver -- it was not scientifically repeatable.

One of my crazy ideas: Limit steering based on speed so the vehicle
can't tip over.
