Hi Jim and Others,

This brings a question up from a few months back. I was reading the
Electrathon America Tech rules, and the use of "starting batteries" is
specifically prohibited, and it seemed irregardless of flooded or sealed
types.

Why would the rules specifically prevent a competitor from cutting their
range performance short by using "starting batteries"?
The only two likely scenarios I could see would be the ability for short
bursts of really high current levels, but after that, average discharge
rates would be diminished drastically.
The other reason was one of safety during the race. Perhaps to prevent
unnecessary caution flags and cars being pushed off to the infield because
the batteries died after the first half of the race.

I am sure Lee will know the answer to this one. Thanks in advance!!
