bdc and synchronous

Hi all
I just got an idea. Why not combine two types of motors in one? Why not have
a motor with synchronous winding and a BDC type winding. You could run it on
AC and DC. The idea is that the power factor remains high since it is
synchronous and since an inverter does not provide pure sine wave, this
could be more effective. How about using a universal motor?
