Re: DC/DC Converter

Michael;
I'll venture a reply on this, as switching power supplies are my sideline.
You could use two Todd 60 amp DC/DC converters with outputs wired in
series. The same could be done with IOTA chargers, probably with better
reliability (and a reliably higher price tag). I have wired the Todd 45 amp
chargers for 36 volt/15 amp output for charging my Electrak. If done
internally, it's simply a matter of un-paralleling the modules and
connecting them in series.
I also run a Todd 75 amp supply as a DC/DC on my high voltage PV array to
step the voltage down to 12 volts when I'm not using it to charge the EV.
Any Todd charger can be used directly on DC, either just plug it in, or
bypass the internal rectifier for better efficiency. 168 volts nominal is
just about perfect, as the AC version of the Todd runs 156-162 VDC on the
buss after rectification.
Cost? Well, they don't make Todds any more, and I hear the wonderful IOTA
chargers are $$$$$.
