Re: Got my TH!NK can't plug it in.

When I needed to sub meter the usage for my trailer, I was able to buy the
meter panel with 100 A breaker, meter socket and meter for under $ 150.00 at
the local electrical whlsle house. Home Depot does have the socketed meter
panel for less, but at that time they did not carry meters, which the other
supplier did. Incidentally, the meter was only $ 37.00. Generac, which is
carried by Home Depot also offers some weatherproof UL approved exterior
boxes originally intended for hooking up a backup generator to ones house
with a large 220V capable "jumper cable". It is really neat because it is
locking, has the outlet facing down at an angle, and the cover is cut out on
the bottom for the cord to escape while the cover is down. Basically, it is a
larger slicker version of the weatherproof 110 V. plastic outlet covers that
are commonly available. It was originally offered with the Generac changeover
breaker panel for something like $ 450.00, but after Y-2K fizzled out, we
still had 1/2 doz on the shelf which we clearanced out for something like $
150.00 . I am not sure that Generac sells the box I am talking about
seperately, but would certainly be worth a look or a call to Generac. BTW
listers, has anyone seen the Generac Guardian line of emergency backup
generators that Home Depot has taken on? The smallest is an aircooled 10-12
KW unit in a weathersealed enclosure and runs on either natural gas or
propane, and comes with a grid intertie switch. All for something like $
2,600 bucks!! A small trailer, and badda bing, can you say range extender?
Remote (EV Drags) charging? Go check it out if you have time. If anyone needs
more info on this stuff, I will be glad to research it at work. Regards,
David Chapman.
