Look at the features of Peter's EV1 Dash. It evolved over time. Also when
he posts the source code other's can extend it. Minimally, logging could
be added to it, even intelligent logging where the data is compressed to
extend the logging time.

Get fancy about it and add GPS. Then you can review the actual route and
possibly get eleveation data as well.

Anything with a serial port. You might be able to use / adapt a USB model
but I don't know how yet.

2MB of ram in a PALM is quite abit. If you want to do some really fancy
logging for a long time, you might use more memory. The ones that can be
recharged are interesting to prevent having to use batteries. Or modify
one of the non-rechargeable ones to accept power.
