Umm, actually, it *is* the tranny input to output that is 1:1, not the
overall engine to wheel ratio.

Or use an additional fixed reduction between the motor output and diff
input (e.g. appropriate sprockets and chain or belt to couple the motor
to whatever ratio diff is available).
