E-meter help (still having trouble)
Hi,
I have replaced the wires from the shunt to the e-meter with a shielded
twisted pair. This doesn't affect the result, it still bobbles around 9
amps if the pack minus rear contactor (Kzonka III) is powered. Disconnecing
12v ground from the contactor and bypassing it with a jumper will make the
funny readings go away.
I made some attemps to shield between the shunt and contactor while my son
watched the e-meter I moved it around, tried hooking it to frame ground,
tried hooking it to 120v negative. The last one had a slight affect, moving
it down around 5 amps and bobbling around (this error is a positive numbers
- it thinks its charging!).
My choices are getting short, I supposed switching to an Albright SW200 for
the rear contactor would solve this, right? I really don't need 1.5 amp
useless loads though, only a 25 amp Todd for a DC>DC stiffened up with a
Zappy battery (20ah). I could move the rear contactor, but I'm not keen on
having it up under the floor tunnel (or on it getting dirty in general).
I'd really prefer to just make the problem go away, I'm open to any other
ideas on how to do that.
Thanx,
Neon
P.S. - what would happen if there was a slight (<0.1v) difference between
pack negative sense and shunt wires?
