You might consider Saft nicads. They'll yield 2500-3500 cycles at 80%
DOD (sorry, I have no specs for lower DOD). They have high initial cost,
but low life-cycle cost. I calculated the per-mile cost for my Force at
4 cents per mile, but yours would be higher since your car uses more
energy per mile.
They also have better specific energy -- a 156v 100ah (at 1-hr rate) pack
will weigh in at about 720 lb. Cost will be about $8,800 plus shipping.
