Peter, that's a pretty weak argument :)  You're thinking car drivers. 
 Not the most sociable of creatures.  I imagine EV pioneers to be 
more like motorcyclists - they look out for each other!  I commute 
down to near the Forth Bridge, and I regularly spot a Honda Insight 
(probably the only one in Scotland) and have been part of a 
spontaneous 3 Reliant convoy once, and there's not many of those 
about!   Of course, flat out I can't keep up with the Honda, but 
maybe my next EV will :)
