Re: Suspension help?

I have an affinity to things VW, and really like VW rabbits, i thought
it would be fun to convert one to rear wheel drive.

I do all my own welding/fabrication so the cost isnt very high, other
than the actual drivetrain parts.

The other car I'd consider is a Datsun 510, but since i dont have one,
and I have nearly two cars worth of Rabbit spare parts, as well as loads
of other race ready goodies for the project i thought i'd just convert
it.

Plus i've sunk about 100hours into the car already stripping it and
repairing rusted panels, debadging, removing the trim and smoothing out
the body that it seems like a waste to ditch it.

I'm extremely open to suggestions for other rear axles. Again i'm
looking to balance ease of the transplant VS strength, weight and cost.

The Jag stuff is appealing because you can easily shorten it, it comes
in its own subframe or i can purchase aftermarket crossmembers to weld
in. And its self contained.

I think i'd have a tougher time making mounts for a 4link or leaf
springs in the back of a rabbit personally..
