I have looked. To me, this looks like a perfectly ordinary flyback
transformer. You have a core with an air gap (in this case, they stick a
magnet in the gap; it amounts to the same thing). The gap decouples the
windings so you don't need to have exactly the same volts per turn on
all windings like a regular transformer.
The magnet biases the core so it saturates at a different magnetic flux
level for + and - winding current. This allows better utilization of the
core with DC-powered windings. Normally, if you applied pulsed DC to a
winding, the core goes from 0 to +max flux. If the magnet biases it to
-max flux with no applied voltage, then the applied DC pulse can be
twice as big, as the core can go from -max to +max flux. But people
don't normally do this because magnet material costs more than core
material.
The waveforms shown are exactly like a flyback. Every little squiggle is
precisely explained and analyzed in any engineering text on flyback
converters.
Their apparent power "gain" is simply the result of bad measurements
with cheap test equipment. The output happens to be sinusoidal, which is
easy to measure. The input happens to be very sharp high-frequency
spikes, which are very difficult to measure; most meters will
underestimate them. Thus they get a good reading on output power, and a
bad (low) reading on output power.
The other factor is that they have no clue about power factor; that you
can have a huge voltage and current in a resonant L-C circuit, and
essentially zero net power.
