Sparrow PFC-20 charger model

[This POST is broadcast to the EV List and Sparrow_EV group]

I had POSTed on the EV List that in talking to the Sparrow
driver at the Los Gatos EVent on Sunday, a PFC-20 charger
could fit in the Sparrow if a low profile model were made.

This would give Sparrow drivers 120VAC and 208-240VAC charging
ability. This means you could charge on 120VAC at a house,
or use the EAA AVCON adaptor (see http://eaaev.org
merchandise page) to gain access to the free public AVCON
charging (208-240VAC), or a home 220VAC source (dryer outlet).

If you do not know, Rich let me use one of his PFC-20 while
I wait for a PFC-50 to be built. I am very pleased to say that
the pros are out standing:

-lightweight
-adjustable output
-runs off either 120VAC or 208-240VAC
-output is 20 amps (depends on your pack voltage)

I get 22 amps into my 132V wet cell US145 pack. The above
features are very useful to me.

The cons:
-unisolated, some rfi noise while charging

Unisolated is not a problem if you only have one charger,
or (like me) the rest of your chargers are isolated.
The pros out weigh the cons for the price.

[*Disclaimer: I do not make any profit on any of the items I
POST about. In fact, I have to pay with my own money to
  test these.]

Rich rmanzan@tscnet.com (the business owner) responded,
 http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EVList/message/22789
that he could build these if there were 25 orders to design
a Sparrow specific, low profile model of his current
PFC-20 charger.

I suggest that Sparrow EV drivers who want to switch to a
PFC-20 specifically designed to fit in the Sparrow, that
they contact Rich rmanzan@tscnet.com and see if their
is enough orders to achieve this. A PFC-20 is about ~$1500.
You can see the current PFC-20 model at
 http://www.manzanitamicro.com/pfc20a.htm

*If their are other Sparrow discussion areas, I ask that
you alert them of this offer as well.
