I've avoided Gells mostly because if they were used in a normal marine
charge/discharge enviorment they would die do to the existing equiptment
used for charging-- then who knows what they could do to ruin a bank out
there on the Big Water. Mostly the smart customers also demand higher
discharge rates and need faster recharge rates than gells like; Not to even
mention the upper volt limits. So if I want to put a battery where it will
be difficult to water or the customer has pyshical restraints I use AGM's,
otherwise waterable batts are the usual choice. Now these apps are what I
do to keep happy campers enjoying there time on the water in very well
coffered personal floating RV's= boats.
>From what I hear from the Racing and Hi volt users--they want smaller cells
than I normally want - and may be able to use gel ( really NOT ). Gas Mat's
( AGM ) have proven themselves well in marine House use. I often use
Powerline 6v 220AH in maybe 4 to 10 pair in a 12v app.= very smooth and very
robust performance. But that's not so pure EV. One thing about
series/parrallel vs. series connection only-- they say biggest single cell
size be best ( series ), untill a cell dies then the parallel batt gets
you home.
Sorry for not being pure EV again
