RE: Welding cable amp ratings

Following is what I found for copper wire, single in open air:

TW, UF (140 deg. F):
#4: 105A
#2: 140A
#1: 165A
#0: 195A

FEPW, RH, RHW, THW, THWN, ZW, THHW, XHHW (167 deg. F):
#4: 125A
#2: 170A
#1: 195A
#0: 230A

USE-2, XHH, XHHW, -2, TA, TBS, SA, SIS, FEP, MI, RHW-2, THHN,
ZW-2, THWN-2, FEPB, RHH, THHW, THW-2 (194 deg. F):
#4: 140A
#2: 190A
#1: 220A
#0: 260A

There's derating required if the ambient temperature is over
86 deg. F. Also, I note a duplication of type THHW on two of
the lists (there may be others). I just copied this, hopefully
without typos, from the reference I have.

As for resistance (at 77 deg. F):
#4: 3953 feet/ohm, 0.253 ohms/1000 ft.
#2: 6289 feet/ohm, 0.159 ohms/1000 ft.
#1: 7936 feet/ohm, 0.126 ohms/1000 ft.
#0: 10000 feet/ohm, 0.100 ohms/1000 ft.

As for resistance (at 149 deg. F):
#4: 3425 feet/ohm, 0.292 ohms/1000 ft.
#2: 5435 feet/ohm, 0.184 ohms/1000 ft.
#1: 6849 feet/ohm, 0.146 ohms/1000 ft.
#0: 8621 feet/ohm, 0.116 ohms/1000 ft.

Hope this helps/
