BB600 NiCad Report 1
I finished installing the 162 BB600 30Ah cells on the
PaseoEV this past weekend. I drove a 14.4-mile trip
using 18 Ah today. They performed better than I
expect probably because the car is now 160lb lighter
than before. It used to have 16 YTs. Why 162 cells
and not 160? Well, I made 3 rectangular battery boxes
of different sizes to fit under the hood and under the
trunk. To fill in all the gaps, they hold 162 cells
in total. This is one big reason why I chose to use
individual cells. Total battery cost:
NiCads $8 x 162 = $1296
Nickel interconnect = $ $322.96
Screws and washer = $45
Total = $1663.96
Still, cheaper than the YTs. Let’s see how long they
last …
