Re: battery terminals
As far as the NOCO rings, if he has as much leakage around
the posts as I did, the rings will be nothing but black acid-filled
mush within 2 weeks. Been there, done that. Believe me, I was
really pissed off when a matter of days after I'd went to the trouble
of putting these rings on, I had to spend an entire weekend
scraping that black crap off of and from underneath every damned
terminal. Besides the fact that it's a PITA trying to stretch those
rings over and underneath L terminals without tearing them, literally
trying to put a square peg in a round hole.
Don't get me wrong, NOCO makes a great product and the
rings are great for contending with acid spray from the cap vents.
But if we're talking about as much leakage around the posts as I
believe Bob has, it'd be like trying to sop up the Exxon Valdez oil
spill with a roll of paper towels, and just create another mess he'd
have to clean off his batteries.
After I went thru the "black mush" experience, I used the
procedure I outlined in my last post to eliminate the problem once
and for all. Over 2 years later, I don't have a speck of corrosion on
any of the terminals and cables. And with the USB flame arrestor
caps, the batteries will pass the "one finger taste test". Wet one
finger, run it across the top of the battery, and...... yea, I know, I'm
a sick puppy. :-)
