Actually, I see something here. Arthur has a (project stage) running 2000
watt inverter with a pretty clean sine wave. This could run the AC
motor/compressor *and* power a transformer that would give a good 14 volt
output for use in place of a DC>DC. Just "borrow"1000 watts and you can
have an 70 amp "alternator", not unlike many cars on the road today (OK,
perhaps a little less, transformers are heavy in such low frequencies).

OK, this isn't the most efficient way, but if your gonna have an inverter
onboard anyway it does put it to good work.
