1st EV

Since there has been interest in this lately and I saw this on the EV
Trading I thought I would share this with you. I wouldn't use the hybrid
part but it is cost effective and can be registered as a moped. Lawrence
Rhodes.... http://www.austinev.org/evalbum/geobook.html direct to the
source about 10%down the page.

This electric/hybrid was built for less than $350. It is allowed on the
street (in most states) and needs no registration or insurance. It uses a
discarded Yahama, EZ Go, or Club Car golf car frame, motor, and controls.
Golf cars like this are thrown away on a regular basis. One only needs to
ask around. The hybrid version uses three 12-volt deep-cycle/starter
batteries. A two h.p. lawn-edger engine (Briggs and Stratten purchased at
Salvation Army for $20), turns an automotive alternator to recharge the
batteries as needed or for extra, hill-climbing, current. Tires are 60 psi,
(low friction) and available in abundance at auto salvage yards. They are
"space-saver-spares" and are sitting in trunks, new and shiny, like a pearl
in an oyster. I paid $25 for four of them. Plans for this vehicle are
available for $29. For more info E-mail me (Howard) at
