Good question.

Last I heard, Energy Research Corporation, a division of Lockheed Martin, had signed a deal with the Chinese to manufacture Ni-Zn 
batteries for EVs, but that was a couple of years ago.

In general, Ni-Zns are claimed to be half the weight of lead-acid, cheaper than Ni-Cds, have high specific energy, and be very quick 
charging. Not to shabby, if true.

The only detailed specs I've seen are of course of the ones from Three Circles Battery Co., which Evercel has partnered with:
