Tom Reed,
    Bravo for your response to the apologists for our technological progress. 
Man should not feel guilty for making progress.  If we did not burn oil until 
we developed other forms of energy, we would have never developed advanced 
energy systems such as direct mass to energy conversion technology. 
Obsolescence is a way of progress.  Airports will give way to individual 
aerial transports which will give way to the Star Trek transporter system.  
We should enjoy the changes along the way.
    Guilt has no place in this process.
