If we did not burn oil until we developed other forms of energy, we would have never developed advanced energy systems such as direct mass to energy conversion technology. Obsolescence is a way of progress. Airports will give way to individual aerial transports which will give way to the Star Trek transporter system. We should enjoy the changes along the way.
