GAS-L: Ferrocement gasifier bodies
Hello Doug Williams,
I note you mentioned FC charcoal gasifiers being
developed by AIT. Have I read about this before? Have a
good selection of books sitting here and am not sure if it's
in them or not.
Of late ferrocement is getting to be a construction
technique I will be using and intend to purchase some
stainless steel chopped fiber reinforcement for various
construction projects.
Last fall I obtained some lightweight refractories for
making my combustion chambers. Well they aren't done yet,
but this would be an excellent opportunity to try and build
not just the pots but the whole upper bodies of a gasifier
with FC, at least the open variety.
I'm aware You are not fan of open gassifers, but it seams
most of these open top units have water seals on their lids
anyway. Have yet to figure that out. (Optional?)
Can You think of any reason SS chopped fiber would not
make a good reinforcement for refractory cements? Is there
a link to AIT gasifier info? Couldn't find it using their
search engine.
Thanks,
Alan
