Dear Harmon, Gasification:

Diesel engines will burn producer gas, but require 5-20% diesel fuel for the
ignition

Spark engines will burn diesel, but the low compression ratio results in a
50-70% power rating.

Gas engines, (or Spark or diesel converted to 12/1 CR) achieve good power on
full producer gas and are the engine of choice for
producer gas.
