GAS-L: Cyclone gasifier
Listers,
Thanks for your prompt feedback. The idea of using clay vessels as
cyclones is a good one - I saw a large flowerpot at a garden centre and
that triggered that idea. I hadn't anticipated the destruction of stainless
in a hot but oxygen free atmosphere.
Dyson dual cyclone cleaners may be found at
www.dyson.com
They also do a new model called a root 8 cyclone - with 8 mini cyclones, so
very efficient air flow - find it here
http://www.rootcyclone.com/
The idea of using a garden shredder instead of a pelletiser, is that they
are very common, simple machines, just a rotating bladed disc on the end of
a 2hp electric motor shaft and will handle wood pieces up to about 1.5"
(40mm) in diameter.
Even if this gasifier consumed only 5kg of waste wood per hour, it would
more than satisfy the requirements of a normal sized house. The gas would
be used for running a Stirling engine or specially designed hybrid flash
steam engine.
regards,
Ken
