PS:
I forgot to mention that when hydrogen burns there is a NET
decrease in volume.
When most fuels burn, they produce the same volume of
combustion products as the combustible gases.
CH4 + 2 O2 ==> CO2 + 2 H2O (3 ==> 3)
For H2,
2H2 + O2 ==> 2H2O (3==>2)
So the expansion due to the heat effect is lowered by 33%.
