Re: GAS-L: Gel Fuel and much more from cattails

I think a barge with a water jet propulsion unit is a better idea. You're both
forgetting that the harvest will be quite heavy. And one of the harvesting
methods developed in the papers I have was using a water jet dredge to
hydraulicaly dig out the roots and wash them clean at the same time, after
chopping the tops. Think of a hay chopper on the front end of the barge, blowing
the chopped tops into a large bin (or maybe a second barge) and then the dredge
on the rear, sucking up the roots, washing them, and blowing them into another
bin.
As Dr. Pratt, one of the main researchers said, if you harvest in alternating
strips, you don't have to replant and don't harm the wildlife.
