GP: Building Energy 2001

Building Energy 2001 Conference
Tufts University  Boston, MA

March 21-24, 2001

Building Energy 2001 brings together experts in the fields of renewable energy and green building.  In the face of rising energy prices, growing health problems, a changing economy, and concern over suburban sprawl, Building Energy 2001 will address some of the fundamental issues facing the Northeast and the planet in this new century.  Sessions will address issues ranging from offshore wind and fuel cells to the ecological footprint and California's energy crisis. Bob Fox,  Ingo Hagemann, Christy Herig, Joe Lstiburek, Greg Kiss, Joseph Romm, Steven Strong, and Alex Wilson are just a few of the over 130 speakers that will present informative sessions at the conference.  Please visit the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) website for details on all the speakers and sessions at the conference and to register.

Special Events:
Aside from 2 full days of conference sessions will be half and full day workshops that allow presenters more time to cover topics in depth.  Follow this link to see the full listing of workshops that will be offered.  Building Energy 2001 will also feature lunchtime tours and smaller meetings of interest to our audience.  On Friday night a public slide show will feature a virtual tour of high-performance green buildings in Germany, Switzerland, Holland and England.

Sustainable Auction:
New this year is the Sustainable Schmooze Fest and Auction.  The auction will not only raise money for the building fund at NESEA but is sure to provide many laughs and memories.  Enjoy good food and drink as Peter Jessop of Integrity Builders auctions off a slew of items.  Follow this link to see the current list of auction items.  Please contact me at ashutak@nesea.org or 413-774-6051 ext. 29 if you have ideas for additional auction items.

Trade Show:
This year exhibitors will attend sessions and have more chances for networking.  Come see the latest renewable energy and high-performance green building products at the trade show.

Design Competition:
We invite you to enter a competition for the most environmentally friendly buildings in the Northeast.  With the exception of the student project category, entries must be either new buildings or renovations completed after January 1, 1997.  Winners will receive cash prizes and announcements in major publications.  For more details, follow this link to NESEA's website.

Please contact me with any questions and please pass this email along to anyone you think might be interested in this event. We hope you will join us for this unique opportunity for networking, learning and sharing.
