3,000 MW of Wind in Argentina

SPANISH FIRMS JOIN IN VENTURE TO
INSTALL 3,000 MW OF WIND IN ARGENTINA

	Two large Spanish firms, ENDESA, a utility, and ELECNOR, an architectural
and engineering firm, said December 27 that they have signed an agreement to
incorporate Energias Argentinas, S.A. (Enarsa) to develop an anticipated
3,000 MW of new wind energy capacity and electric infrastructure in the
regions of Patagonia, Rio Negro, Chubut, Neuquen and Santa Cruz, in
Argentina.

	The strategic alliance, the firms said in a news release, has been signed
by their wholly owned energy subsidiaries Enerfin (owned by Grupo Elecnor)
and ENDESA Cogeneracion y Renovables and has been approved by the Argentine
government and the local governments in the regions where the wind turbines
will be installed over the next 10 years.

	In the first stage, they said, Enarsa will "promote building and operating
windmills with a total expected capacity of 280 MW in Chubut and Neuquen,"
at a cost of 42 billion Pesetas (U.S. $240 million). Elecnor will develop
this turnkey project with wind technology from MADE, a 100%-owned subsidiary
of ENDESA.

	ENDESA Congeneracion y Renovables is a leader in Spain for renewable energy
sources (wind, minihydro, solar, biomass and solid waste) and co-generation,
the firms said. The company operates 195 projects with 1,800 MW total
capacity and a 31% share of Spain's renewable generation market.
