RE: GP: New to List

Hi Ron

Thanks for taking the time to write.

The solar industry in Australia is starting to make some impact but not
typically at a utility level output. I am not aware of any large projects
producing greater than a MW.

For years we have used solar in salt production, to power communications
stations and the like in outback areas, to power emergency phones and signs
along our freeways. Then there's the solar vehicle challenge each year and
of course our solar hot water systems and pool heaters.

There's a lot of research level activity, a good bit here in Western
Australia, mainly through the universities.

In a recent registration of interest to the commercial power marketplace,
two solar panel suppliers registered interest but their finances were woeful
and could not be seriously considered as a supplier of energy. We were
looking for a provider of green energy for our HQ building and over 80
additional green contestable sites (>300MWh/annum) under our Renewable
legislation which commenced 1 July.

If there are serious solar players out there, are they interested in Western
Australia? I'd like to hear from them.

Regards

Thom
