Don't have any specific info of adverse human health effects but I do know
that if the farmer was applying for organic certification for the crops it
would have to be free of pesticides, herbicides, and commercial fertilizers
for 3 to 5 years depending upon the certification group.  After this period
of time the crops could be labeled as organically grown if all of the
necessary guidelines have be followed.  During this time the crops are
typically called transitionally organic.
