Hi Samantha:

One benefit of pellet stoves is that they are available with wall 
pass-through venting systems, similar to a high efficiency furnace. In 
other words, you don't need to install a regular chimney. They are also 
very good at targeting low heating requirement. A downside is that they 
require electricity to operate, and yearly service.

A good website is hearth.com  - the webmaster is very knowledgeable, and 
there is an extensive FAQ.
